Also found in Tanteidan Convention Book Vol. 15
This was sort of a (rather difficult) test for a paper I had on hand but hadn't used before. Kikura is 50% kozo / 50% abaca and it worked out very well on a rather demanding model. I added segments to the abdomen. Happy with the final result, though shaping was a pain.

While my first try at this wasn't bad, it was a bit too crumply looking for my taste, and I messed up some of the details. I tried again with a slightly thicker but more forgiving paper. Happy with the result, and I don't plan on folding this again anytime soon. :)

I am very happy to say that my Robin was accepted by OrigamiHouse's 21st Tanteidan Convention Book! I've been trying for the past 3-4 years and finally my efforts have paid off. To see the model list, the link is below:
Look for 'コマツグミ/ウィンストン・リー'.
To reflect, I am happy about OrigamiHouse's decisions for foreign artists. Normally in previous years, I have noticed that previous convention booklets contain mostly renowned, established artists, with maybe a few newer artists sprinkled in the last pages. After looking at the model selection for this year, I have noticed many more newer, younger artists. If we limit ourselves to only recognizing the tried and true generation of origami artists and their designs, we also limit the styles and approaches and novel ideas new designers could provide. Thus, I hope that OrigamiHouse continues to make decisions like these to propel newer artists into the origami world and to help advance the origami world into recognizing newer ideas.
I taught this model at OrigamiUSA's 2015 convention. I suppose that people who wish to fold this now have a chance if they buy the book. =P

For this month's ODT. :D The topic was daily life and I download at least something everyday. Be it music songs, music album's, videos, etc... I'll also publish diagrams for this in the Tanteidan Convention 21. Let's hope it gets published! =D I'm drawing diagrams now, it will be given to someone to test it. The tester is already booked so don't bother asking to test it. XD
Folded from: 15 x 15 cm Poster Paper.
Time to fold: 20 minutes? I'm guessing it'll be a 3 page diagram.
Difficulty: Simple!
Hope you like it! Also, wish me luck for the challenge!

Here's a new picture I took in the morning light... very different from the previous one, isn't it?
Actually I realized after watching several pictures of those funny trees that they have an interesting crown of branches on top of the trunk and the leaves aren't that significant... Mr Kawasaki has included them in his beautiful model so why not showing them... ?!!
I got totally hooked on this maple leaf design... it is just wonderful!
